6 Now ye may suppose that this is afoolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by bsmall and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
7 And the Lord God doth work by ameans to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very bsmall means the Lord doth cconfound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls.
“That looks like throw-up,” referring to Mom’s made-from-scratch pecan pie.
“ ‘sides, I’m big/little.” She actually says “swash”, but that’s only because her “L’s” haven’t come in yet!
Singing to herself at the doctor’s office: “Mama called the doctor, and the doctor said: (pause for dramatic effect) Nothing.” Sounds like she has a pretty good grip on modern medicine! j/k
“Please bless Mom that she won’t die, and please bless Olive that she will feel cute,” prayed with the same amount of concern and conviction.
“and please bless Olive that she will feel cute…"
“there’s a lot of water here.”--a classic stating the obvious moment made while swimming at H2Oasis water park after about 45 minutes.
“I need to wear a big dress. The little dress won’t dance enough.”
“I’m not Lily, I’m a pirate! I’m not a mean pirate, I’m a nice pirate. Arrgh!”--spoken while holding down one eyelid with her finger and making a hook with the other.
“Sarah is a wolf. She’s a mean wolf with sharp teeth, and she smells!”

“Sorry, Mom that I’m so late,” as she arrives home from school 45 minutes after school let out. “What happened?” I asked. “Oh, listenin’ to the Holy Ghost.”

I wasn't present for this event, I was working or something, anyway I do remember that someone mentioned a dog doing their business on mom's leg? was that the same trip???
In my memory, this was in Capitol Reef National Park. This was a whole family trip, even you, Becca, as you would have been a child and not gainfully employed. Unless Mom wore this outfit in 1994, which I hope is not the case. We all fed the deer and none of us got lyme disease. It was a blast.
The time the dog went on Mom's leg was when we cross-country skiing with Chad and Heather Gasaway at Bryce Canyon and the van got stuck. That was a good trip too.
See, and I thought it was at Zion's National Park, just before hiking Angel's Landing. It's a good thing we label pictures around here...
I missed the dog business. Hopefully Mom won't ever have a repeat experience with Olive!
Well, here is the real deal.
We all went to Zion for an overnighter. We stayed in a couple of tiny little cabins in Springdale just outside the park. I think the rooms were $25 each. The deer were really hungry. We had a couple of bags of sunflower seeds. Becca was chewing a lot of them in those days. The deer smelled them and LOVED the salt. All of us fed the deer right out of our hands. They started to get a little rough, pushing each other around to jockey for position. I had to smack a couple of them to get them off of you guys and we escaped to the nearby van. Fortunately, Ranger Danger was no where to be seen or we would all be reminiscing in a federal pen.
The dog was a very friendly, smiley black lab who decided Mom's ski pant looked like a fire hydrant. VERY funny. That was at Ruby's Inn when we went cross country skiing with Chad and Heather. Then we drove back to town and went to Rusty's for dinner. Expensive day, but a great one.
And that's the way is was.
Dad
I guess I was there. the sunflower seeds were popular among us softball and baseball players...
I don't remember the incidents.
So the two events are two completely different times.
I know I wasn't there for the doggie business.
Thanks for the clarification. I love these family stories!!!
I remember Zion Park, and listening to the Nylons during the drive-or was that another Zion trip when we saw a lot of deer?
I really like the glasses.
